SeijakuF's Puni Puni Poemi Ova Review

Rated: 8

PuniPuni Poemy is an excellent parody. It makes fun of everything (including itself), jumps out of character and makes jokes so fast it's hard to keep up. There are puns, typical jokes, inside-stuff, slapstick...you name it, PuniPuni Poemy has it. Almost every time you watch the show you realize a new joke and when everything happens so fast, it feels like you haven't seen everything just yet. It's a great and rare thing in anime.

There's no clear logic in this show, a dead fish used to transform pops almost out of nowhere and Poemy picks up cheesy lines even though no one told her such things. So sometimes it's frustrating to see something illogical happen...

SeijakuF's Azumanga Daioh Tv Review

As said before, this show brings very little new to the genre. However, it makes a good use of the one-shot theme and manages to build a strong line it follows- even when there's no clear "goal" in the episodes. The episodes are different from each other but there is a lot of repetitive stuff; the girls spend their time mostly at school. Towards the end we get to see more deeper relationships and even some new settings but sometimes I feel like there should be more places to spend freetime than Chiyo's gorgeous home (or summerhouse). My favourite episodes are in the end when emotions are shown more freely and conversations get deeper. The humor never disappears though and it makes me smile in every episode.

SeijakuF's Mahoraba Tv Review

Warning: Undefined variable $cover in /var/www/minitokyo/www/html2/reviews.html on line 7

Rated: 9

Mahoraba has a lot of different elements in its story. This is a good thing since watching another Maison Ikkoku would not really be that interesting, now would it? There's humor, drama- a bit of everything. And guess what? They all work. I've laughed so hard my stomach hurt, cried like a baby, thinked hard about certain situations. While Mahoraba is no complex series, it has a deeper meaning there too and leaves the viewer to choose how to see the current situation.
Mahoraba is easy to view, simple enough to show to your friends who are new to anime- but at the same time it's refreshing in it's own special way and offers new stuff to the otakus as well. The episodes follow a certain path but there's still enough room for altering the story to keep it interesting.
